Stone Aged have released several albums in the new millennium. They are considered one of

the representatives to revitalize classic rock as it was represented in the 70’s and early 80’s. The

group has stayed true to their traditions, which was dubbed “Everything Classic”. Each song on

their albums offer a diverse journey into the past as a remembrance of how music was popular

back in those days.

All their albums are not typical hard rock, even in the sense of the classic sound. While there

are clear tenets such as blasting drums and tremolo picking guitars, their sound has become

much more dynamic over the years. The group uses melodies in a similar fashion to their classic

rock roots that made music great, but their writing is more of a jumping off point to faster,

more barbaric sections. There are a myriad of guitar sounds ranging from conventional heavy

metal to dignified narrations to operatic voices and pitch-shifting chords that guitarist Vinny

Sabatino brings to the forefront. All this is accomplished with clean production values courtesy

of Vinny as well, who you may recognize for his involvement with many other touring bands

throughout the 80’s. The symphonic back-up vocal tracks that compliment the lead vocals are

what also contributes a unique blend of sound and texture to the originality and creative breath

that is Stone Aged.

Jim Hayhurst

Jim Hayhurst hails from the Midwest as the drummer/percussionist and vocalist who also writes many of the lyrics as well as contributes to the writing and production of the music. Jim started playing drums at the age of 10. By the time he was 13 he was performing at local parties and small clubs in his hometown in Ohio. Jim’s first professional outing was with the band Torrent out of Columbus, Ohio where he performed for about a year. He then traveled as a band Roadie and drum technician for John Cougar in the Spring of 1981. Not long after that he joined the group ROX in Columbus, and as a result traveled to Los Angeles to audition for the TV show Star Search in 1983. Jim Toured around the country with cover bands such as Thunderpage, Vex Lyker, Asylum, Surf City, and The Groove Cats down in Florida before playing a pivotal role in the creation of the band Stone Aged. Jim was fortunate enough over the years to open for such acts as UFO, Ted Nugent and Molly Hatchet.

Andy Hayward

Andy Hayward is the lead vocalist/lyricist who comes to the band from the UK. Andy has a great range and a heavy 70’s & 80’s influence in his voice. His soaring vocals are a major contribution to what makes Stone Aged unique. From his initial Heavy Metal ‘hair’ band days at the age of 18, Andy has performed many different styles of music, including Rock, progressive and classic R&B covers in both England and the U.S. He was also invited to audition for Black Sabbath shortly after Ozzy left the group. He lost the job to the infamous Ronnie James Dio. Andy always wanted to be the one writing the music, and in early 2017 after a chance meeting, and several jam sessions with Jim and Vinny, it all came together in Sabatino Studio’s in Orlando. ‘There is nothing like writing your own material’ he is quoted as saying and this prolific trio continues to produce and regularly release original songs to the public in an attempt to remind people of those bygone days when music was real. Boomer rock lives!

Vinny Sabatino

Vinny Sabatino comes to the band from New Jersey where his career began at the young age of 10. He studied with a NYC session guitarist for a few years. He helped form his first professional band that rehearsed in his parent’s basement for years. Both his mom and dad were very supportive of Vinny’s musical talent. After his parents moved to Florida Vinny decided to relocate there as well. After a few years his group changed agents and wound-up touring the Western part of the U.S. After touring and opening for famous upcoming bands from the 80s, such as Night Ranger, Vinny settled back in Orlando where he owns a recording studio. Vinny is the jack of all trades, and we might add that he has mastered most of them. Vinny brings his heavy guitar influence, bass and keyboard skills as well as his back-up vocal talent to the group. He also is a producer and master engineer. Stone Aged has several videos out on YouTube, all created by Vinny in Sabatino Studios.
